Smart Actions was created as an editorial platform for League to explore how AI is transforming healthcare experiences. I led the creative from concept through launch, developing a visual language that could feel distinct for the project, while still belonging unmistakably to League.
Rather than treating the newsletter as a one-off campaign, I saw an opportunity to expand the visual identity I had developed for League AI into a more flexible editorial system.
AI played a role behind the scenes. I built a set of automated workflows that reduced the repetitive production work involved in turning approved copy into finished newsletter layouts. Starting with a simple Word copy deck, my custom AI tool could identify the appropriate content structure, select the correct predefined components and templates, and populate them with the final copy.
The goal was to automate the tedious tasks and reduce the opportunities for manual error, while leaving more time for refinement, art direction and the details that actually required judgment.
I also rebuilt the newsletter production workflow. With reusable email patterns and components in place, I introduced tooling to automate connecting the design system directly to production-ready HTML. This moved us away from more brittle, image-heavy email production toward a system with live text, responsive behaviour, better accessibility, smaller file sizes and a much cleaner design-to-development handoff.
The result was both a new expression of League’s evolving AI brand and a scalable foundation for producing the work that followed. The Smart Actions launch reached 1,500+ LinkedIn subscribers on its first day, while the underlying system made future editions faster, more consistent and easier to build.
